Trung Khanh district, located in the province of Cao Bang, Vietnam, is renowned for its rich chestnut cultivation practices. The region's favorable climate and fertile soil provide an ideal environment for growing high-quality chestnuts.
Trung Khanh's geographic location and climate create an optimal environment for chestnut trees to thrive. The region's unique microclimate ensures that the chestnuts produced in Trung Khanh possess exceptional quality and flavor.

Ups and downs of Trung Khanh chestnut specialties.
Currently, Trung Khanh district has over 240 hectares of chestnut trees, of which more than 170 hectares have been harvested. Chestnut trees are grown in many communes: Chi Vien, Ngoc Khe, Dinh Minh, Phong Chau, Dinh Phong... Annual output is estimated at over 100 tons, average selling price is from 100,000 - 150,000/kg.
However, some areas have old trees, low productivity, people have been canceled and new trees are planted instead, according to the new planting program and expanding the area of the district. Until now, Trung Khanh district still has a lot of bare land, bare hills, but people do not develop cultivation.
One reason why the price of Trung Khanh chestnuts has dropped is because in the past few years, suddenly a type of chestnut with a similar form to Trung Khanh chestnut has been sold widely on the market, and of course people give it the name: "Trung Khanh chestnut". This type of imitation is so much that you can see it everywhere and they sell it all year round. Even in Trung Khanh district, this type of chestnut also appeared, the natives could still distinguish it, but the tourists from all over the world could not bear it. The Chinese probably knew the value of this seed, so they brought it home to plant. They planted very methodically and scientifically, obtained a large yield, but no matter how hard they tried, it still did not produce a nut with a characteristic aroma like Trung Khanh chestnut.
Awakening the potential of Trung Khanh chestnut.
In order to promote the strength of chestnut trees and make chestnuts become a key commodity product of the locality, in recent years, the province and district have many solutions to expand the area of chestnut trees, including developing the region. concentrated production to bring the chestnut brand to reach out to the province.
In order to raise awareness and change production thinking, provinces and districts focus on supporting farmers in planting techniques, taking care of well-developed trees, improving production and quality of chestnuts; have a roadmap to support each key commune to build a production and business cooperative, diversify products from chestnuts such as wine, confectionery... At the same time, establish regulations on the use of collective marks “Trung Khanh Chestnuts”.
Hopefully with practical solutions, Trung Khanh chestnut tree will soon become a key economic tree, contributing to poverty reduction for people and bringing the brand of Trung Khanh chestnuts far, commensurate with the potential and strengths of the country.
