Vietnamese fresh chili peppers have received official approval from Chinese authorities for legitimate mainstream export to the world's largest consumer market.
According to information from the Commercial Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the General Administration of Customs of China recently announced the approval of five Vietnamese enterprises engaged in the production of fresh chili peppers for registered export activities to the Chinese market, starting from March 3, 2022.
The Chinese authorities have specified that Vietnamese fresh chili pepper exports to China must meet the country's phytosanitary requirements. All shipments of fresh chili peppers need to undergo phytosanitary inspection and treatment by authorized Vietnamese agencies or facilities authorized by Vietnamese agencies. The technical parameters related to plant quarantine must be clearly indicated in the phytosanitary certificate.
Mr. Nong Duc Lai, the Commercial Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, stated that these are the first five Vietnamese enterprises to be granted official approval for mainstream export, following a temporary halt by China on importing fresh chili peppers from Vietnamese businesses( according to Nhandan news). With a population of 1.4 billion, there is a significant demand in China for various agricultural and food products. Therefore, Vietnamese enterprises need to conduct thorough research to meet the increasingly stringent requirements of the Chinese market, thereby promoting legitimate exports and ensuring stable market access for Vietnam's agricultural sector.
Counselor Nong Duc Lai also mentioned that as of March 4, 2022, a total of 1,808 codes for agricultural and food products have been issued by Chinese authorities to Vietnamese enterprises for legitimate export to China. In the context of China tightening its inspection and quarantine measures for import and export activities, particularly at border checkpoints, to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, conducting research and complying with new regulations to obtain official export codes is considered essential for effectively tapping into the Chinese consumer market.
This development not only signifies a new chapter for Vietnamese fresh chili pepper exports but also highlights the importance of compliance with international standards and regulations. It is expected to contribute positively to the growth of Vietnam's agricultural sector, ensuring stability and sustainability in accessing global markets. The official approval by Chinese authorities paves the way for Vietnamese enterprises to strengthen trade ties, build confidence, and explore further opportunities in the vast Chinese market.
