Hoa Binh is renowned for its pristine climate and natural conditions, making it an ideal location for beekeeping and honey production. The province boasts substantial forested areas, providing a conducive environment for the cultivation of honeybees. The local residents of Hoa Binh are known for their practice of domesticating wild bee species and breeding their colonies, resulting in honey of exceptional quality and distinctive flavor. The meticulous care given to each stage of honey production ensures that the honey maintains its unique aroma, natural sweetness, and purity. As part of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, districts and cities across the province have conducted surveys and supported producers in standardizing their products according to OCOP criteria. At present, beekeeping for honey primarily occurs in districts such as Luong Son, Kim Boi, Yen Thuy, Lac Thuy, and the city of Hoa Binh. This strategic concentration contributes to the specialization and excellence of Hoa Binh honey, solidifying its position as a premium product within the OCOP framework.

In 2018, the Intellectual Property Office (under the Ministry of Science and Technology) granted certification for the "Hoa Binh Honey" trademark to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hoa Binh province. This certification marked a significant milestone in recognizing and protecting the brand identity of Hoa Binh honey. The use of this certified trademark has played a crucial role in establishing trust with consumers and enhancing the market presence of Hoa Binh honey.

Hoa Binh province has been implementing a range of solutions to encourage businesses, cooperatives, and individuals to apply advanced scientific methods to produce One Commune One Product (OCOP) items. These efforts are supported through various mechanisms and policies aimed at brand building, trade promotion, participation in fairs, and the use of e-commerce platforms for product promotion. These initiatives facilitate the introduction of products, the search for partners, and the establishment of long-term cooperation contracts.

Additionally, the province has fostered connections among residents, administrators, and scientists, offering financial support for building workshops and investing in technology. These steps are taken to progressively enhance production capabilities, improve the quality of agricultural products, OCOP items, and local specialties. Notably, the province has dedicated efforts to elevate the brand of "Hoa Binh Honey," showcasing a commitment to the development and promotion of unique, high-quality local products.
